Record pre-birth observations and a birth

Open an expected birth or expected hatch event and choose ☑️ Record birth observations. Check the signs actually observed, enter minutes since active labor began or waters broke, and indicate a first birth when applicable. Save to display the assessment. The assessment identifies a stage or concern; it does not turn the number of checked signs into a reliable countdown.

Severe distress, abnormal presentation or a red membrane prompt veterinary contact. The cattle and horse timing checks are species-specific. The current checklist does not yet contain validated breed-specific timing for every species.

After delivery, choose Birth / hatch observation. Select the mother and associated breeding entry. Link the offspring’s existing animal record, or enter its name temporarily. The calendar label includes the mother and the linked offspring’s current name. Create or correct the animal itself using the normal animal records workflow; a calendar birth does not create an animal record. A linked birth reconciles its breeding estimate.
