Akbash

The akbash is a large guardian dog breed from Turkey with a white coat that comes in medium and long lengths…these puppies will have the medium length hair. The breed closely resembles the more common Great Pyrenees, which we have had in past. The move to the Akbash is because of the need for less hair. They feature a wedge-shaped head with dark eyes and triangular drop ears. And its long tail often curls up and over the dog’s back. They have long legs which allow it to move swiftly, but has loose skin around its neck that helps to protect it from attacks. This serves the Akbash well in its role defending livestock from wolves, coyotes and other predators.

This breeding was a joint venture between Nan’s Milk and Honey Farm in Corinth MS and Stay’N Put Farm in Savannah, TN. After many years of admiring Buddy the male dog and the rapid aging of our Great Pyrenees we decided to buy Nola to breed our own stock. This has been two years in the making. The result is 10 beautiful puppies, 5 of each sex. Only 4 females left and 4 males!
